Saks to close American Dream store, but not Bergen Town Center

Saks Fifth Avenue is laying off 58 employees at its two-story luxury store at the American Dream mall in East Rutherford as it prepares to close the store amid its bankruptcy.
The layoffs will go into effect by May 11, 2026, according to public filings with the state Labor Department. The American Dream Saks will close in April, Saks Global spokesperson Maddie Hayman said in an email.
But another North Jersey Saks location will remain open: the discount, off-brand Saks Off 5th at Bergen Town Center on Route 4 in Paramus.
