General Purpose of Job/Summary:
The Financial Applications Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation, maintenance, support and audit of all financial applications within our organization, including but not limited to MRI Software, (Commercial Management, Fixed Assets, Investment Management, Contract Intelligence), Versapay, Itamlink, Legal Tracker, Nexus Payable, Emburse Enterprise (Chrome River), etc. Ensuring optimal functionality and user experience by managing application configurations, upgrades, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with internal teams to address their specific software needs, all while adhering to security and compliance standards. This role will report directly to the Chief Information Officer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Application Deployment and Configuration: Installing, configuring, and customizing financial applications to meet the specific requirements of different departments and users.
- User Training and Support: Providing comprehensive training to end-users on how to effectively utilize the MRI software features, troubleshooting technical issues, and offering ongoing support.
- System Monitoring and Maintenance: Actively monitoring system performance, identifying potential issues, and performing necessary maintenance tasks to ensure smooth operation. Perform administrative tasks, including system maintenance, balancing, and month end and year end processes
- Systems Administration: Perform technical administration of applications as necessary
- Upgrade Management: Coordinating software updates and upgrades, assessing compatibility, and managing the transition process to new versions of all our financial applications
- Data Management: Understanding data relationships and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data within the systems, including data migration, integrations and cleansing procedures.
- Documentation maintenance: Update and maintain documentation for application processes, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures, as needed.
- Security and Compliance: Implementing and maintaining robust security measures to protect sensitive data within the software environment, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
- Internal Relationship Management: Building strong relationships with internal business teams, understanding their business needs, and proactively addressing their concerns regarding MRI software usage.
- Collaboration with IT Teams: Working closely with the different IT divisions, including the non-financial applications team, infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to ensure seamless integration of our software with existing systems.
- Consultant and vendor management: Manage relationship of outsourced teams including but not limited to our applications support team, financial applications development team and Audit process as it related to technology for financial applications.
- Serve as an escalation point for the resolution of incidents and problems where necessary
- Work with the Business to define the prioritization of tickets, changes and enhancements, including interfaces
- Review and approve changes to ensure proper development life cycle has been performed (e.g., impact analysis of changes required to the applications has been performed to ensure no downstream impact, test scenarios documented etc.)
- Assist with the implementation of new products
- Audit process management: Work closely with internal teams and external auditors to ensure compliance with SEC, SOX, ISO, and other applicable regulations as well as provide full support for any related audits, either internal or external.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
Skills and/or Abilities:
- At least five (5-7) years' experience in an accounting, finance, or system support role, with working knowledge of accounting processes. Prior experience working for a public company a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of MRI software applications, Yardi or similar including features, functionality, and configuration options.
- DevOps and Agile methodologies.
- Understanding of software development work and SDLC and procedures
- Experience with integrated systems, including XML, JSON and other data formats
- Expertise with SQL and Excel.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve complex software issues efficiently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with users, stakeholders, and technical teams.
- Experience managing software implementation projects, including project planning, timelines, resource allocation, and deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service and build strong client relationships.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Methodical and careful work practices
- Must be available for month-end and year-end close or throughout any deadlines/projects that may require your assistance
- Ability to work in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day
- Ability to travel between offices as necessary.
